Explore Edventure in Columbia, SC

Written by: Sarah Robinette

Hello friends! My name is Sarah and I am a mom to two kids under the age of 6. I live in the Smoky Mountains which is in East Tennessee and I love to share things to do in our area and ways to keep motherhood fun. This blog post I wanted to share about a super cool children museum we came across one day when watching Blippi.

Have you ever heard of Edventure?

Edventure has 2 locations you can choose from. One is in Columbia, South Carolina the other one is in Myrtle Beach, SC

I love Children Museum probably just as much as my kids do. I personally remember going to my local children museum a lot and playing in all these cool rooms. It is definitely a core memory for me. That children museum is no longer there and I finally started finding some and wow are there some better than ever!

When we were watching Blippi one day with my son, my husband told me to come in and watch where he was. The place looked pretty cool so I looked it up and it was only 4 hours away from us! We had some time off so surprised the kids by staying the night in a hotel and then going to Edventure in the morning.

This Children’s museum was lots of fun! They have a huge statue of Eddie and He’s 40ft tall but he’s also a playground. He’s 4 stories tall and you can see and play inside his brain, stomach, and explore the body! This was a massive thing to see as you walk in and the kids couldn’t wait to play in it. I even climbed up in it to see what it was all about. I personally thought it was so cool and cleaver. I think the kids spent close to an hour or more climbing around in just the Eddie statue.

This is pretty much like a super cool playground. They had a lot of places to climb, a slide, and food inside of Eddie’s belly as well as some cool sound effects to go along with being in his stomach. It was easy to access. They had stairs or ramps and some seating behind the playground to sit and watch.

When the kids got done playing with Eddie, we started looking at all the different rooms. This Edventure Museum is a 2 story building so let’s start at the Vet Clinic. They had a cute vet clinic with stuffed animals, costumes, doctor kids, X-rays and everything you need to fill like you are the veterinarian. I love watching kids play pretend and getting in there and playing with them.

Another favorite room for my kids was the grocery store, Publix.  It was probably my favorite as well. They had all these super cool and “real” looking food to put in your cart and all kinds of different sections in the store. We played pretend a lot in there and they loved being a cashier. This was also a great place to take some super cute photos of the kids shopping.

We had fun in the airplane and pretending to fly the plane. The costumes added a great touch and even sitting in the seats in the back of the plane. They loved being the pilots and making sure we were getting there safe.

There were so many rooms to play in such as a newsroom. You would be a weather man or a news person. They had cameras all around and this was a super cool room. They had a big tire playground where you could learn about cars and safety.

The little Spot Diner was another place the kids played for quite awhile and liked to take our orders and cook up the food. The detail put into the place was amazing.

There was so much to see and explore such as fire engine, area, blocks, crafts, and if it is nice you can go outside to play with the water boats. They did also have a toddler room as well as a little library with puppets to play with. We were there for close to 5 hours and the kids keep asking when we can go back.

If you ever find yourself out that way and have little ones I know they would love this stop!

XOXO
